HOW TO CARE FOR NATURAL KINKY HAIR

Hair care evolves and mine started with a dry scalp. In 2016 when I first went natural, I used coconut oil to moisturise my hair and scalp, or at least that’s what I thought I was doing at the time. I now have the Love Kinks routine which is detailed below.

Overnight: The most important part of your hair care routine is retaining moisture overnight. This can be done using any satin or silk doeks, bonnets or pillowcases. The Love Kinks satin range is the best quality satin range you can find.

Washing: Once a week. I use the Love Kinks moisturising shampoo and I follow up with the Love Kinks nourishing conditioner that leaves my hair feeling lush, soft and moisturised.

Hairline: Every morning and evening, I massage the Love Kinks hairline serum into my hairline for hairline maintenance. Our hairline thins due to braids and styles.

Moisturising: I use the LCO method daily. Our braids and hair spritz is very hydrating to the scalp so I start with spraying it and follow up with a small amount of the Love Kinks conditioning moisturiser and lastly the Love Kinks oil.

Braids care: I use the Love Kinks Spritz daily. The Love Kinks spritz has hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and rose water for scalp and hair hydration. I also seal with the Love Kinks oil once or twice a week.

Treatments: I treat my hair every other week. I use the Love Kinks hair strengthening treatment.

Tying: Ensure that you tie your hair with satin lined hair ties. This ensures that your hair is not damaged, broken or dried out. Braids also require a strong and wide hair tie. The Love Kinks design protected hair ties are a need.
